I like this teaser image more than the rest cause me dongsaeng is the focus here! woo-hoo! Whats good, Kyungsoo?
uh-hum! anyways, Before we begin, let me address the Elephant in the room, or in the case, the Whale out in the Universe.
Most of you might probably know what the reason behind this scene, but for those of you who don't it refers to a children's story "The Astronaut's Whale" written by joe.e.b. It talks about a unique sort of friendship between a whale and an Astronaut. If any of you would like to dabble in the field of written medium, click here to read the story.
I am not going to dig deep into it, as most blogs have beat me to it. But might I add, that after I read the story, this image had a whole new meaning to me, I spent hours watching it..

But now my amigos!, tis the time to review the album and let you guys and gals know which song I like and want to recommended. So ONWARD, (insert name here)!
The album immediately kicks out with a peppy tune song. "Unfair" is a song where the guys wants to confess his love to a girl who he has been friends with and he feels that he is being selfish(?). The song starts with a suave momentum and quite frankly reminds me more of the mundane rainy season than snowy winter climate. But Chen's "Babe, whooo~" made me forget everything and babbler like a babboon...
The song is an easy track to listen to and have a likeness to. The lyrics shows indecisiveness and show hesitations about confession which is cute to listen. I personally love this song over the others in this album simply because of the musicality and the way the chorus is arranged - eommaya!
"Unfair' and "Sing for you" were both hyped as the title tracks of the album but only "Sing for You" got to get a music video made for it! humph! "Sing For you" follows the story of wanting to confess to the loved one who happens to be a good friend as well. The boys decide to confess to the girl through a song rather than just telling her "Hey I like you, lets date". I guess being direct is the thing of the past.
The music video is anything but romantic! hahahaha that is ma' style! yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyaaaaaaaaaaaasssssss! The music video focuses more on friendship,or as I like to call it-
For those of you who didn't understand the meaning behind each scene, let me break it for you, BRUH!
Kai is not drinking with the others, WHY? because someone needs to be sober to drive them home = BROMANCE!
No one plays basketball with Xiumin, WHY? because he is too good in the game and the others respect that = BROMANCE!
Beakhyun gets stood up by others in the bar, WHY? He wasn't drinking, he was there to make sure, everyone left the bar = BROMANCE!
Kyungsoo-ya is in the driver seat, laughing with others one minute and then alone and frustated and crying the next, WHY? Because He is Kyungsoo-ya = BROMANCE!
Suho and Chanyeol are fighting, WHY? Because that is how them manly men show love = BROMANCE!
Sehun is on a trip around the universe with the Whale. WHY? because no one gets left behind, even if you are a titan like sea creature that is mysteriously still alive in, floating in the Universe = BROMANCE.
Kai broke the mirror and then ran to dance in the snow, WHY? who cares? He looks good doing it = BROMANCE CONFIRMED!
But all jokes apart though, this music video time and again tells you a very hard truth - whether you like it or not buddy, you are alone in this world. And at some point of time in your life, this truth is going to hit you when you least expect it. Fear not thought, like every other good and bad things in life, it will pass, which is signified with everyone disappearing and coming back again.
The music video is good but doesn't in anyway connects to the lyrics at all. What I am saying is, YO! WHERE THE GIRL, MAN?
What is the point of having two music video that are the same but have only the music score changed to Mandarin/Korean. Since you are catering to different countries, I would have appreciated if there were minor twerks added to show the change.
Moving on to the next track which is another song where you fall in love with your childhood friend but you deny it once again when you friends tease you about it. "Girl X Friend" is a song that revisits what the two tracks before had already done, trying to confess to the female childhood friend. I mean I get it, we are friends and you want me to be your girlfriend, what can I say?
But please, Can we move on to when we are actually dating? How about incorporating a song where we are decorating a Christmas tree, this is a Winter album after all, isn't it?
Moving on to the fourth track which thank the gods above, has something that refers to the Winter season! Not to mention, the singing (moaning) in the beginning of the track made me scream for Jesus Christ.
"On the Snow" in terms of its lyrics is a bit different and the chirpy Christmas spirited music score makes this a fun song to listen to. Chen once again (stating my preference here) really knows how to swing it in the chorus. The song has a lot of imagery which makes it memborable and sweet to listen to. The typical winter themed love song I was waiting for all this time.
If it isn't me good 'ol favorite tracks of the moment! (I don't actually consider this track as part of the album, because it was already released)I have long been addicted to this song, because of the beats, the imagery yoyo-ing between Light and darkness. The minute the song was released to promote the Star Wars movie franchise, I obsessively listened to it. In fact, this is the song that I wake up to everyday.
Somewhere along the lines of listening to these tracks, I began to feel that this album was something that was done in a hurry. Teaser images were simple and the effort to put some sort of hidden meaning behind it only led to confusion, if you ask me.
My favourite in this album is "Unfair". Must listen, I recommend, you might not like it right off the bat, but it grows on you. Aside from "On the snow" and "Light Saber" (which is more of a promotional track), the other three spoke of the same idea time and again. Playing the same tune in differently made flutes doesn't make it new. No...
I keep comparing it to their previous album and 'Sing For You' unfortunately falls behind "Miracles in December".
What do you think? Let me know in the comments section below!
And with that we have come to the end this blogpost..
