     JYP ENTERTAINMENT’s very own rock group DAY6 have made their comeback! You know what that means…

      Though Junhyeok left the group, DAY6 is still going strong and along with releasing their second mini album, they now have access to partake in music shows! Can this get any better for them?

      On the 30^th of March, DAY6 dropped their second mini album, which is titled “Daydream.” The mini album features a total of six songs which are First Time, Blood, 놓아 놓아 놓아 (Letting Go), Sing Me, 바래(Hope) and Hunt. Many of these songs were written and/or composed by the talented boys of the group.

The album kicks off with a bang! “First Time” has drums galore at the opening of the track, calling out to everyone to listen to them. The chorus is loud and it sadly gets in the way of what the singer is singing. The songs talks about taking the initiative and leaving a relationship. The group harmonises beautifully as they sing “I got to say Goodbye”. This song is loud and has layers of beat that made their singing a difficulty to follow through.

 Time to light the dance floor on fire!

“Blood” is an electro pop dance number that starts off slow and mysteriously and then bursts into fireworks as it reaches the chorus. The song is miles apart from the previous track. “Blood” doesn’t take this too fast nor slow but just the right pace and the chorus is bound to make you shake along to its rhythm! Have to appreciate the boys for coming up with such lyrics - “You gonna see blood girl”

When “Letting Go” started I thought I was in church.

The title track “Letting Go” is said to have been penned down by members Young K and Wonpil, who just so happened to have also participated in composing the track. The song sings about letting go of one’s loved ones in the hopes that they find happiness in another soul. A sad but very realistic approach, the song has lyrics that are simple to understand and the boys sing the song with such finesse. The song is a typical heart break song but nothing about the song makes it feel generic.

The music video for “Letting Go” doesn’t have a story line or a plot but that is because the song takes care of it all. What the music video does have is some pretty clean well editing, graphically appealing shots that subtly show how the relationship has shattered.

The music video does incorporate a good amount of CG but it doesn’t look awkward. In fact, it only adds more depth to the song.

“Sing Me” starts of like a beautiful breeze gently fanning you down and then carries you off with it. The song is powerful and keeps getting stronger with every beat. “Sing Me” asks for the past lover to never forget the singer for the singer is always in constant thought of the girl. The boys sing about waiting for the girl as long as it takes and it melts your heart.

The song has one of the most intriguingly beautiful beat and musical arrangement. The song is a must listen to as it incorporated electro pop and rock ballad all into one strong concoction.

“Hope” is a strong rock anthem track that touches the lines of your generic rock anthem feels in terms of the rhythm, and beats. The song is still a joy a listen to as the young boys determined spirit and personality shines through in the song. The song is simple yet charismatic and not to mention that the small guitar solo really adds the oomph to the song.

Turn up the atmosphere to steamy with this last song of the mini album “Hunt” is romantic, loud and doesn’t care who is listening. Hahhahah I mean that in a good way. The song revisits music styles of yesteryear rock – refer to Elvis- and the sudden pause in the song creates tension and chills while you listen to it. The winning moment of this song is when they all sing “Oooh aahhh”, by the time the song comes to an end, you will be singing “Oooh Aahhh” with them.

To call “Day Dreaming” a power packed album would be an understatement. The songs are all strong and run on their own little path. No two songs feel the same. The members of DAY6 have really outdone themselves and the fact that this is just their second album only makes you wonder what more they have in store for us next time. An album worth owning!

     I mean how cute is that!

               Makes you want to pick them up and run, don't yea! 

        

       If you don't know who they are, well they are the new boy band group from JYP Entertainment and they fo by the name ‘Day6’.

          I don't know why but the netizens seems to be comparing these minions with the minions in GOT7. 

            Now why would you do that? The two groups are going in tangents with their concept anyways, so I don't get the point of the comparison. but anyways, moving on. These cuties just released their debut album which is cutely titled ‘The Day’. This album has six songs in total being ‘Freely’, ‘Out of my mind’, ‘Congratulation’, ‘Habits’,  ‘Like the sun’ and ‘Colours’. 

      To kick start the album, the members sing about letting go and dancing away for the night in ‘Freely’. The members voices blend together rather harmoniously and drum beats set the pace while the lyrics are rather clear precise. The boys are here to have fun and you are joining them!

       Time to get serious in ‘Out of my mind’ as the members try to get hold of reality as their lady love plays a game of tug and push with them. I hate it when a woman plays hard to get! The song is easy to listen to with just an over bearing drum beat guiding us along as the members related incidents in a song like manner.

      ‘Congratulation’ is the track chosen for promotion and there are clear reasons why. The song talk about a girl who seems to switch boyfriends like she is switching her clothes! I love this song because it takes a sarcastic tone when addressing the woman who deserves it with a pinch of salt. The members literally congratulate the girl for being the cold blooded idiot she is.The music video is also unlike the norm- it shows the boy group as a band rather than a well choreographically trained idol group which I like a lot. The members play their musical instruments with ease and style. Check out the music video below!

      Moving along, the members try to break away from the habit of being with their yeoja chingu in the track ‘Habits’. This song has a mild techno tune underneath as the members sing an anthem like song about breaking the habit. The song is rhythmic and claustrophobic at the same time.

      The members melt in the sight of love in the song ‘Like the sun’. The song has a clapping tapping beat and a rhythmic beat as the members confess the lady love is like the sun in their life. This song is the funky ya! 

      My personal favourite is 'Colours' with its authentic rock stance with it overpowering vocals and tunes that collide with it! The members call out to the girl to come and colour their bleak mundane world. I love this song because of its continuous reference to darkness and colour as the lyrics are sometimes subliminal.
