Yo-eh! where my homies at! let me hear ya!
okay I didn't expect anything in return anyways so..
Well you can guess by the title that I am going to do a review on Zico's "Gallery", his work of art, his masterpiece. I already listened to the album, so here I will tell you which song I like and are worth listening to. So gather around children cause we are delving into the Gallery of Zico.
The album has a total of six songs that are the bomb man, I mean the real deal. Here is the tracklist of the songs
- Veni Vidi Vici (feat. DJ Wegun)
- Eureka (유레카)
(feat. Zion.T)
- Pride And Prejudice (오만과
편견)
(feat. Suran)
- Boys And Girls (feat. Babylon)
- Day (날)
(feat. Jtong)
- 말해 Yes
Or No (feat. Penomeco, The Quiett)
When I read the name of the first track, Veni Vidi Vici, I felt it was a reference to me old friend le Julius Caesar!
and I was waiting for some "et tu Brute" shit to go down in the track. sadly no, I was disappointed, but the song makes up for it with its mind blowing beats and a well paced rap rhythm. No historical reference what so ever but he referred to a list of other things in his life, where he saw, he came and conquered. He also bought something for his mother, which for the love of God, I cannot figure out.. But in all, the song has some sick beats to dance around with..
The music video came out recently and it was cool bruh! Zico looking as fine as ever! muah-hah-aha! I don't think the music video has a solid storyline as it just shows a girl coming into town, dealing something in the dark and getting out of the place with a cash loaded suitcase. Oh and she takes off her long coat to reveal a nice two piece, so no complains here!
But Zico my man on the other hand, knows how to rap like a tiger. Full points to his stylist, for the awesome clothes that really gives off they "Hey, you can't touch this" feel. Of the song didn't already deliver its message, then Zico's music video does it for you..
Eureka featuring Zion.T - Okay, maybe he found something ingenious like Archimedes or maybe, Zico was throwing shade at other artists who are claimed to be genius but are not. That was what I thought before I listened to the track.... and let me just tell you, oh he found something, alright..

The song leaves nothing to imagination, absolutely nothing, but it is just so hard darn fun to listen. And that is because of the trumpet music that breaks up every time the chorus comes around. Whenever the trumpets came down so did Virgil!
The music video is shot with the retro style and the men scream "Eureka" whenever they see the female body. I can imagine Archimedes turning in his grave.. Also, female icons from the past make an appearance in the music video namely Marilyn Munroe and Cleopatra. I am just saying, quite frankly they were unnecessary and the feminist streak in me kicks in when he uses them for their body image and not for the personality they had.
If I were to rate this music video on a scale of whip to nae nae, I would give this a nae-nae to watch but a whip to listen. (Cue in some eyebrow lifting)
I like the song "Pride and Prejudice" because of its unusual rhythm. The background score is like a jam of different sound bytes out together. Basically....
cause there is too much tension in this song. The overall mood of the song is gloomy and really makes you think. A song that is out of the ordinary and is a favourite of mine, cause when Suran sings the chorus I go...
You won! you won! just take me! what a voice, even if your pronunciation of prejudice is funny.
The music shows a couple who are supposedly at a crossroads and have to choose between pride or prejudice, I am guessing. Some of the visuals are really picturesque especially the woods. I don't know what significance Belch Hotel has.. oh sorry Balch Hotel, aside from being the place where the two met.

The next three tracks have long been released but since they are in the album, I will go ahead and review them as well.
Zico my man brings the dance beats back on the table with a bang in the song "Boys and Girls". The song features Babylon, don't ask me who that is, but his voice is croon worthy. The song talks of big money and having a time of your life. Zico time and again, in this song, reminds you of letting your hair down and having fun. . . . why? Because he is a boy and you are a girl.
my my my what deep logic here!. Socrates will be proud. Though the logic breaks itself if you happen to be a boy as well, this is something we all taking with us to our graves.
AS if the song hadn't already clearly delivered the message of partying and living the good life, the music video goes out on an extra limb to show what you need to live a "Le good life" - women, boats, women, horses, women, golf course, women and swimming pool, oh and bikinis, for which you will need more women.
seems legit!
This song can possibly be your best friend solely for its perky beats and the chorus makes a nice confession track for your non-kpop crazed crush.
When "Days" starts playing, I immediately got up and ready to do make my ancestor's proud by performing the international peacock mating dance.
The song is more of a diss track and he goes on a rampage either directly or indirectly hitting everyone who threw shade at him. Zico and his featured artist Jtong pretend to be animals who will devour their opponents given the chance. The song has some deep meaning and even a deeper drum beats. But that weird sound bit that comes in the end, never fails to freak me.
DUN! DUN! DUUUUUUUNNN!
Now now now, hold on! this right here, this track....
Uh-huh! uh-huh!
"Yes or no" is a classy song! I have no words as to how to describe this song! It is just one of those songs where he shows you what hes got and who is he. This is my favourite song and I seriously recommend that you listen to it. I don't care when you play this song, I don't care who is watching. Imma just keep dancing, yo! and if "you like it? thanks a lot!"
To finish off this post, the album is fun to listen to as Zico has tried to cater to different genres of music and styles. But it seems that, in some of the tracks, he seems too caught up on proving who is he to the people who dissed him, solely to the people who dissed at him. but aside from that the album has been well received, a good attempt, and I am really looking forward to see what else he has in store.
Let me know what you think in the comments section below.
