CNBlue is back with their
sixth mini album just in time for romance and spring! The mini album is titled “Blueming”
which brings together a little bit of their name and the fact that spring is symbolized by blooming of the flowers.
And so the
mini album “Blueming” has a total of five songs which are You Are So Fine, The Seasons, Young Forever, Without You and Stay Sober.
Let us start
with “You are so Fine” which is simple stylistic retro themed song that sings
about being the perfect girl for the singer. Written by Jung Yong-Hwa, the song
sings about how the girl is perfection personified, she is perfect in what she
wears, how she behaves and who she is and that only drives the men crazy. The song
has simplistic lyrics but they really take home the message of falling in love
and being perfect for one another.
The music
video shows a mysterious lady checking into a hotel that has the members of
CNBlue in the lobby, the boys are obviously head over heels in love with upon
seeing the lady, all except for Jung Yong-Hwa who smiles with an intention. To know
why, you must simply see the music video. The music video tells a story with a
sweet and connects to the song.
The next track
in the album is “The Seasons” which starts off like a soul searching track and
then builds up on the tension and emotion. The song is beautiful in the way it
is penned and the basic musical beats and rhythm really elevate the senses of
the song. “The Seasons” is a pretty song that sparks colours.
Taking a turn
into mystery and drama is the song “Young Flower” which promises what the song
is titled after – staying young forever in life. I like how this song is
directed more towards themselves then a perfect female creature. This song is
more alluring and enchanting to listen to than the previous numbers. I suggest
you give this song a try, it has a anime soundtrack like feel to it.
Getting back
to songs about break ups, is “Without You” which starts off with the sings
sadly but surely expressing that he can live his life without a certain
somebody in their life, but we all know where this boat is sailing towards. “Without
You” has a powerfully built up chorus with compliments the slow emotionally
swaying bridge pieces in the song. Another song that really packs it in there, “Without
You” is such a pleaser as the rock elements of this song really pull through
beautifully.
“Stay Sober”
is the last song of the album and it has the rustic southern feel to it. The
song is entirely in English in it which sings about not drinking and asking the
lady to stay sober with him for the night. The song is so pretty because he
keeps singing baby in it. hahahahahha. The song sounds like a classic song
because of the way it is musically arranged. The drum beats are huge and
awesome in this song, it build drama to the song. Although “Stay Sober” is in
English which is a different comfort zone for the boys, it competes head on
with the other Korean songs in this album.
Overall, this
album is a cracker of an album and is definitely worth the listen.
