*Mondays are so darn hectic
with artists all releasing singles or full length albums*
The pretty
ladies of lovelyz are here this spring embarking on a new journey with their
album titled “A new trilogy”, obviously this means that two other albums will release
in the upcoming future to complete the trilogy. Being the first part of the
trilogy, the girls show their best foot forwards with their vocal abilities! The
album has a total of seven songs which are Moonrise,
Destiny, Splash, 1cm, Bookmark, Take care of my
heart and Doll.
The album begins with a dream
like intro melody which seems to be culmination of all the melodies that
Lovelyz usually play with in their songs. Vaguely sounds like “Rough” but feel
free to let me know what you think in the comments section below.
“Destiny” starts
right of the bat with their chorus and it all up hill from their in terms of
the music, their vocals and the gripping lyrics. The song is pulsating with
emotion and is fierce with the music that it is simply incredible to listen to.
A lovely song that really shows the best of the girls.
The music video, I am
amazed! Kudos to whoever directed the music video it is amazing aesthetically
appealing and the way it is shot really compliments the essence of the song
even if the music video literally at some points tries to one up the song with
its direction. The girls are swayed by the emotions and the feel of love. I
love this music video as I get to see a different side to these lovely women.
“Splash” brings things down
and into their most comfortable music which is sweet, innocent and cute. The
song is beyond cuteness with the adorable sounds and the insanely repetitive chorus
that the girls do. “Splash” is a love song where the girls ask the guy to confess
to them and take their world by a storm. A simple song but one again it is
cuteness overload with their sweet voices and the cute sounds they make. If you
are not smiling as you listen to this, then something is really wrong.
“1cm” is the song up next
which is a moving ballad number. The song starts of slow and with just a piano
and clap along beats as the musical accompaniment, the girls give emphasis to
their dream like vocals. The song stands out for its unique approach to how the
song is arranged; it makes for an interesting listen.
“Bookmark” starts off with
this retro pop funky beat much like a cute anime OST. This sometimes seems to
be the way their song is often referred to and it is because of the innocent image
they portray in their appearance and in their songs. This song is one such
example, the beats is refreshing and really perks up the vocals of the girls.
A more sincere and one to
one song to take your breath away is “Take care of my heart”. The song is
another compelling track by this group of girls as they harmonize ever so
beautifully and build off of one another in terms of their singing. “Take care
of my heart” is such a simplistic song but makes sure that it packs quite a
punch in it.
A finally we have “Doll” to
close of this gripping start of their trilogy. The song reminds me of the
melody that comes with that rotation ballerina in the music box. A sweet yet
sad number that has music of the rustic kind blended into it. This song is
quite a pleasant surprise in this album as it is in no form or style
corresponds to any of the other songs in this album. But something about this
song is so mesmerizingly addictive that it makes you want to listen to it again
and again. “Doll” is a must listen to track in this album.
