The album
starts off with “Drinking Your Lips” which is a nice upbeat pop number, if you
can make it past the nasalised “nyah nyah nyah nya yeah yeah yeah” that is. The
song seems to blend out well though wih each member’s voice beautifully
matching the other. A cute sound, which surprisingly, keeps ringing in your
ears even after you have moved on to the next one.
The next song
is the title song, “Mirror” is the bedazzled crown of this entire mini album. The
song speaks about the distorted self which is the result of a relationship gone
sour. The hauntings of this “self” which the girls are confronted with every time
they see themselves in the mirror makes them want to cry out for help. The song
has dramatic music presence and the building tempo to the chorus doesn’t fall
short at getting your attention. The music video is equally dramatic and
beautiful to look at and the girls are perfectionist in their dance and their
emotions. The song nonetheless rises to the occasion. A must listen to song in this
album.
The third song
is “Mr.Black” which is a cool down song with its subtle bluesy tones and sexy
music beats. The song has a lingering chorus line and the rap really takes it
to new heights. The song is simple but the musical accompaniment really gives
it a different vibe and feel.
The fourth
musical piece in the album is “Thirst” which is another love addiction track
but with a swaying techno tinted melody. The song is leans slightly towards the
ballad genre and the with each line passing, the girls prove time and again
that when it comes to harmonising, they have it locked down. The song is simple
and very pleasing to listen to.
The fifth
track in the album is “Back and Forth” and it makes sure to leave the best of
the girls behind. The song has a romanticised jazz accompaniment with really gives
it a cool, mysterious feel. Of all the songs in the album, Yezi’s rap works
wonders in this song as the musical tunes take a back seat giving full control
to the girls and their vocals. The song is haunting for all the right reason
and is a recommended listen.
Overall, the album has a good and consistent amount of pleasant intriguing songs which do not go overboard nor are they underwhelming. A good album.
