Yoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
who
lives in a rock that is under the sea! Patrick the star! Randomness much?! Well
I wanted to start this post with something happy and I couldn’t think of anyone
else aside from Patrick.
I hope that
made you smile, because we are going head first into some really mind blowing
tripping melody here. Now, you probably know this, but Dean my man here has
already made a reputation for himself as being a unique pebble (If you will let
me call him that) in the sea shores of music. Dean’s solo album has been in
much anticipation and now that he dropped it like it is hot, fans have been
going bananas, I tell you. Everywhere I turn people be screaming out his name,
that I just had to do a review on his album.
So, lets break
it down with what the track list for 130 mood : TRBL is all about. The mini
album has a total of seven tracks which areě–´ë•Ś
(Outro), 풀어 (Pour Up) (Feat. ZICO), Bonnie & Clyde, What2do (Feat. Crush,
Jeff Bernat), D (Half Moon) (Feat. ę°śě˝”), I love it (Feat. Dok2) and 21.
First up, we
have the outro! ě–´ë•Śstarts off with this
standalone piano melody and then builds up layers and layers of beats and synths.
Dean sings with this friendly casualness which really gets to you and then his
cuss words which will get at you. The song really sums up a lot about what Dean
perceives and believes and as a matter of fact is a pretty packed introductory
music track.
The second
track is풀어 (Pour Up) which
features Zico! Yey! The song starts mellow but then is glitches and instead
starts playing a more bass synched music. The song has melody that gives out a
mysterious, seductive feel to it. Dean makes the phrase “Pour Up” sound so cool
and catchy; it must be the way he pronounces it. The chorus is alluring and
Zico’s small appearance in this song brings out the meaning of the song even
clearer to the listener.
So far my
favourite song in this album is “Bonnie & Clyde”. The song sings about a
different kind of love story, a love triangle to be exact. But this is not an
ordinary love affair; this is a scandalous, dangerous and a notorious love
affair. I love the chorus and the way the music accompanies Dean’s vocals. The
song sings about how the girl fancies another man and that doesn’t rub well
with Dean. The music video is literally a tripping ride. Dean and his supposed
girlfriend have a risqué relationship with Dean possibly killing the girl
towards the end of the video. I love the music video and the song, a must
listen to in my opinion.
Let’s put
aside the drama and the conundrum for a while and walk down subtle mellow road
of ballad. What2do features Crush and Jeff Bernat. The chorus croons about
being on the brink of falling in love and the clap like melody gives it swag. The
swaying melody and the mellowed tunes give a great break from the break pop
rock music we have been listening to so far. Though it is a simple track, it doesn’t
fall short when compared to the other tracks that are there in this song.
The title song
of the album “D (Half Moon)” featuring Gaeko starts of like a dream. The song
is pure drug to the ears with its roller coaster rhythm; the song is moving and
forceful at one point and then falls down with a hush in another instant. If that
wasn’t already dope worthy, Gaeko comes in and takes you to the highest of the
skies with his rap. The song is pure manna and the music video is….
Perfecto! Magnific! and beautiful to the
eyes. Dean is as mesmerising as his voice is.
“I love it”
starts off with a bit of drama, a bit of someone knocking the door and prolonged
silence of human sounds. This is another song that brings more emphasis on Dean’s
voice, I am not complaining. There lyrics are simple and to the point with his
vocals making it sound special. The simplistic chorus is enough for you to get
a basic idea of what the song is after. “I love it” is a good song to listen to
if you wish to get a taste of Dean and his work.
What better
way to bring the album to an end by pepping things up. “21” is a happy go lucky
melodic song that really brings up the mood and also makes sure to leave a
smile on your face by the time it reaches the chorus. The lyrics are classy and
witty but then again most to all of Dean’s songs are witty. This song will make
sure you bob along to its beat. Dean is more laid back in this song and you can
feel it in the way she sings.
In all, this
album is the best thing I have listened to. All of the song in the album are
superb and seem to compete with one another. The lyrics are penned beautifully
and blow your mind when you listen to them. Dean is amazing and this mini album
is just an example of how well he works. I recommend that you listen to all of
the tracks that he offers in “130 mood: TRBL”
