There were some amazing comebacks, activities and debuts that took place during
my finals that I was unable to fan-girl over =.= so I am going to go over all
of them right now, hope you guys are ready for it!
Amber’s
solo debut mini album titled Beautiful consists of 5 songs - shake that brass,
beautiful, heights, love run and just wanna- but before we go into the songs
and how fabulous they are, let’s talk about the singer!
Amber is
the first female singer (lead ‘rapper’) to get a solo album. heck, she beat
SNSD to it! (Not that we are showing favouritism, but SNSD is Amber’s senior
and technically they should have been the ones to…… you know.) but novelty can
Amber bring to the table that the others before her haven’t. The album answers
it all!
SM is like the master of deception! You think that person is good only at
rapping or only at dancing but once they open their mouth…….. Need I explain?
Amber’s
album oozes with feminism and female power! The namesake song ‘beautiful’
crisply puts out the much clichĂ©d idea of ‘inner beauty’ and ‘be you’.
‘shake
that brass’ is a fun song that shows Amber’s laid back attitude. The song just
basically asks you to shake that thang- /wink wink/
‘love
run’ (a personal favourite) is a song that best demonstrates Amber’s vocals.
There is a sort of soothing yet breezy nature to her voice and as she sings
this song, her vocals gently tread across. A song meant for easy listening and
is soon to be a favourite.
‘heights’
is a party mix song that still pretty much sticks to showing of Amber’s singing
voice.
‘Just
wanna’ is a song done in collaboration with Eric Nam. This song is a little
something for the western listeners. A simple song about love at first sight
which is so cute coming from Amber and Eric. But I would have preferred if the
male singer had a much baser voice as that would have elevated Amber’s subtle
sweet voice and added more dimension to the song.
In short,
Amber’s solo is a steal. Her voice is so breezy and so easy on the ears that
you can listen to over and over without feeling tired.
