Apink recently reached a
very important milestone in their career of being together for four years. If
that isn’t news to you then let me tell you that Jeong Eun Ji of Apink recently
broke the music front with her solo debut! With a mini album titled “Dream”,
Eun Ji reintroduces listeners to her every so pleasing voice. The mini album
has a total of five tracks which are Hopefully
Sky (Feat. 하림), 사랑은 바람처럼 (love is like the wind), It`s OK, Home
and 사랑이란 (Love is..).
Let us start the show with
the title track for this album which is “Hopefully sky”. “Hopefully Sky”
features Hareem and is a song about living life wholeheartedly for the first
time and the indecisiveness that comes with it. Eun Ji assures her father that
she will be find but not without putting forth the question of what path to
take up in life. Nonetheless, Eun Ji sings of hope as she sees the sun shine
down brightly at her. “Hopefully sky” is a really melodious song that will for
sure lift your spirits.
The music
video for this song shows Eun Ji revisiting her childhood and befriending a
little one along the way. In terms of how the video is shot, gives room for
aesthetic appeal with a touch of personal element. I love the brightness of the
music video.
The second
track in this album is “Love is like the wind” which is a moving ballad love
song. The song starts off with a beautiful piano piece which is later matched
with Eun Ji’s melancholy musings. The song is compelling to listen to because
of the way it is written. “Love is like the wind” is much like an OST number
with its dramatic flair and emotionally gripping melodies. “Love is like the
wind” is a wonderful song to listen to.
Time to put
the dark musings behind us and focus on the energy of positivity! “It’s Ok” is
a wonderful song about picking oneself up and walking on ahead with a new and
fresh mind-set. The song is pleasing to listen to and is made of some of the
most moving verses. The song is simple but its perky rhythm and uplifting tunes
really life up the song’s aura.
“Home” starts
off with some of the most promising uplifting melodies of all in this album.
The song is much like a pop number with its swinging drum beats and
overpowering musical accompaniment. The song sings about Eun Ji wanting to show
us (the listeners) a whole new world..
A very
promising song in this pack so far, I recommend that you listen to “Home”.
The album
comes to an end with “Love is” which is another sad ballad number. Hey I am not
complaining, I am really enjoying her voice. The songs so far really show Eun
Ji’s prowess as a singer. This song “Love is” also has its highlight moments
which Eun Ji kills effortlessly.
And lastly is
the piano accompanied version of “Hopefully Sky”, I didn’t add it along with
the other tracks because it is the title song but with a piano accompaniment,
but boy was I wrong. If the title song didn’t already tug at your heart
strings, the piano version literally tears your heart out with its penetrative
tunes.
I love all of
the songs in this album but my favourite will be “Hopefully sky”. Be it the
title or the piano version, each has its own flair and own personality which
makes it two different songs on its own.
